Cornerback Chevis Jackson

Q:  Who called and what did they tell you about you fit with the team?
A: “I got the call from Coach Smith and he asked if I wanted to be a part of the Falcons. My answer was yes, of course. He told me that he was looking forward to me coming in and working hard.”

Q:  Can you talk about playing with receivers man-to-man?

A: “I’d like to say that I can mix it up and do whatever the coaches ask me to do. I try to go out there and do the scheme for that week and whatever the coaches ask me to do.”

Q:  Can you talk about openings in the secondary and the trade of DeAngelo Hall?
A: “I heard he got traded but I don’t know what happened prior to me getting there. I’m trying to make the team, come in there and do my best.”

Q:  Are you a corner that likes to talk or show it with your football play?
A: “I have talked before. I try to do a little bit of both. Whatever happens on the field while I’m out there happens.”

Q:  What was it like practicing against tough competition every day at LSU?
A: “Very competitive. The one-on-ones were the most exciting part of practice. Everyone used to gather around and watch. Just going against them in practice prepared me for where I am at right now.”

On speed:
A: “I’m not a track guy. I’m fast enough to make plays on the ball. I’ve been the three-year starter in the SEC and not many people have gotten behind me. I’m very confident in my speed and God-given ability. I think I’ll be fine.”

Q:  Have they given you any indication that you are going to come in and compete with Von Hutchins?
A: “No we haven’t talked about that yet. They drafted me today and it’s been very exciting for me and my family. We’ve just been celebrating over the last couple of hours. They haven’t given me any indication on what I’m going to be doing. I’m just trying to come in and compete.”

Q:  Is it nice to come into a situation where you have Chris Houston and Von Hutchins on each side. Does that take pressure off of you?
A: “It does. They’ve got two starters out there and I’m trying to come in there and fit in where I need to be.”

Q:  Are you still going to have a Snickers bar here?
“Yes, that’s a pre-game ritual. I have to have my Snickers bar before the game.”

Q:  Can you tell us about your interception against Ohio State?
A: “It was man coverage with a safety blitz. I got great pressure and was running side to side with Ray Small. When he looked up, I looked up and made a play on the ball.”
