Falcons cut price of upper-level season tickets

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons announced earlier this week that the costs of many season tickets in the Georgia Dome would be lowered from last season's rates. The cut mainly affects seats in the upper and mezzanine levels.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, upper-level, end zone seats will be reduced from $280 to $250 per season. Some midfield and mezzanine-level seats will be reduced from $690 to $650 per season. The top 13 rows of upper-level sideline and corner seats will go for $250 per season -- down from $520 and $420 in 2007.

There will now be 16,848 seats in the lowest price category.

Owner and CEO Arthur Blank hinted at price reductions earlier in the offseason in response to the team's struggles in 2007.

"A lot will depend on how (fans) see our offseason activity, whether they feel trust is earned and re-established," Blank told the AJC. "Hopefully, they'll see that and support it... Hopefully, fans will appreciate the quality of our GM and coach hires and see us active and making thoughtful decisions about players we want to bring in."

Executive Vice President of Marketing Dick Sullivan said the move is part of the team's refreshed approach to the future.

"One of the great things about the National Football League is that teams can quickly reverse their fortunes from the previous year very quickly," he said. "The Falcons had a tough year both on and off the field in 2007, but 2007 is over. We have moved on and are looking forward to a fresh start and a new beginning with our Head Coach Mike Smith and our new General Manager Thomas Dimitroff."

More information on single-game ticket sales will be available later this summer.
