ATLANTA -- Official Falcons-49ers game notes and updates straight from the Georgia Dome press box...
- The Falcons-49ers game is blacked out in the Atlanta metro area. This marks the first time the game has been blacked out on local television since Dec. 23, 2001 -- the final home game of the year when the Falcons hosted the Buffalo Bills. The game is also the first blacked out locally during Owner and CEO Arthur Blank's ownership.
- BUMPS AND BRUISES: Cornerback DeAngelo Hall left the game on the first defensive series with a back injury. He was replaced in the game by Lewis Sanders. His return to the game was questionable, but he was back on the field later.
- The 10-play San Francisco scoring drive on their first possession was the first touchdown they have scored on their first drive and the first touchdown they have scored in the first quarter thus far in 2007.
- Linebacker Michael Boley, who is having a Pro Bowl-caliber season, posted his fourth career forced fumble in the first quarter when he stripped Niners' running back Michael Robinson. The fumble, however, was recovered by San Francisco, keeping alive their first scoring drive.
- When Warrick Dunn has 20-plus carries in a game throughout his career (as he did today), he has led his teams (Atlanta and Tampa Bay) to a 28-7-1 record.
- Dunn logged Atlanta's first touchdown of the game, the 60th of his career, to tie the game at 7-7 with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter. During the nine-play scoring drive, Dunn tallied seven carries for 47 yards.
- BUMPS AND BRUISES: Running back Jerious Norwood injured his right ankle late in the first quarter. When he left the game, he had one carry for four yards. Trainers taped up his right ankle and he returned to the game in the second quarter after missing just one offensive series. Norwood re-aggravated his right ankle injury late in the third quarter and did not return to the game.
- Fullback Ovie Mughelli notched his first career rushing touchdown with 3:48 remaining in the second quarter on a 1-yard dive, putting the Falcons in front of the 49ers, 14-7.
- Return man Adam Jennings set a new career high with his 23-yard second-quarter punt return. Jennings' previous high came in week four against Houston (18 yards).
- Safety Lawyer Milloy registered his 23rd career interception when he picked off Alex Smith with 4:07 remaining in the third quarter. It also marked Milloy's first interception as an Atlanta Falcon.
- Defensive end John Abraham picked an opportune time to chalk up his sixth sack of the season, dropping Smith in Falcons' territory and forcing a fumble while Atlanta was clinging to a 14-13 lead. The forced fumble was Abraham's 26th since the 2000 season, which ties him at fourth overall in the NFL during that time frame (Jason Taylor, Miami -- 35; Dwight Freeney, Indianapolis -- 31; Leonard Little, St. Louis -- 31; Simeon Rice, Denver -- 26).
- With a 20-16 victory over San Francisco, Head Coach Bobby Petrino earned his second victory as a head coach in the NFL.
- Dunn posted his highest rushing total of the season and his first 100-yard game of the year when he tallied 27 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown. Dunn is now 147 yards shy of 10,000 career rushing yards. His last 100-yard rushing game came against the New York Giants on Oct.15, 2006 (146 yards) and he has now totaled 28 career 100-yard rushing games.
- Dunn logged Atlanta’s first touchdown of the game (60th career) in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7. On the scoring drive, Dunn tallied seven carries for 47 yards on a nine-play drive. His rushing total of 65 yards in the first half was the highest in one half of play all season.
- Atlanta registered 38 rushing attempts against the 49ers in a 20-16 victory. Over the past five seasons when the Falcons record 30 or more rushing attempts in a game, their record is 30-6. Atlanta totaled 30 attempts against Houston in its first victory this season.
- Quarterback Joey Harrington surpassed 14,000 career passing yards when he finished with 138 yards against the 49ers on 14 of 25 passing.
- The Falcons combined to finish with three interceptions in the game. Milloy stuck first with the 23rd of his career and his first as an Atlanta Falcon in the third quarter. Hall picked off his third pass of the season and the 15th of his career when he grabbed a Smith pass at the 2:29 mark in the fourth quarter. Hall’s interception led to a Falcons field goal. Safety Jimmy Williams intercepted his first career pass and stalled a San Francisco comeback with 22 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
- Linebacker Keith Brooking posted his first sack of the season and the first since Nov. 26, 2007 against New Orleans when he dropped Smith in the fourth quarter.
