FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Falcons waived linebacker Travis Williams and activated running back Jason Snelling from the practice squad to the 53-man roster Monday afternoon.
Snelling, 5-11, 231 pounds, was a seventh-round selection (244th overall) by the Falcons in the 2007 NFL Draft. A graduate of the University of Virginia, he compiled 235 rushing attempts for 1,246 yards and 10 touchdowns while ranking fifth in school history with a 5.3 yards per carry average. Snelling led the Falcons in rushing this preseason with 39 carries for 172 yards.
Williams was originally signed by the Falcons as a rookie free agent on May 1, 2006. He was waived by the team following training camp, but was re-signed on Jan. 10, 2007. Following this season’s training camp, Williams was signed to the practice squad and five weeks later was promoted to the 53-man roster.
In four games played this year, he totaled three special teams tackles.
