FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Tuesday the Falcons placed tight end Martrez Milner on injured reserve and claimed tight end Courtney Anderson off of waivers.

Anderson, 6-6, 270 pounds, was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh-round of the 2004 draft. He played three seasons in Oakland and totaled 62 receptions for 763 yards and six touchdowns. Anderson was released by the Raiders following the 2006 season. He spent this season’s training camp with the Miami Dolphins and, after being released at the conclusion of camp, signed with the Detroit Lions on Sept. 24. He saw action in two games with the Lions before being waived.

In 23 games at San Jose State, Anderson caught 36 passes for 477 yards and seven touchdowns. He started his college career at Contra Costa College as a wide receiver before moving to defensive end and eventually landing at tight end at San Jose State. His best year as a professional came in 2005 when he started 13 of 14 games for the Raiders and caught three touchdown passes.

Milner, a fourth-round draft pick for the Falcons this season, injured his left ankle in the second quarter against the Carolina Panthers. In eight games this season, he caught nine passes for 50 yards.
