FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons Wednesday waived defensive end Derrick Jones from the practice squad and re-signed cornerback Brent Grimes after he was waived from the active roster Nov. 1.
Grimes, 5-10, 180 pounds, spent the first seven weeks of the 2007 season on the practice squad before being signed to the active roster Oct. 29. He was waived from the team three days later. Grimes played 43 games at Shippensburg University where he set school records with 38 career passes defensed and 27 interceptions (also a conference record). He was originally signed by the Falcons as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 16, 2006.
Jones was signed to the Falcons practice squad on Oct. 16. He played college ball at Grand Valley State University.
