Dome, Falcons announce new renovations

Yes, it's been a year of unprecedented challenges for the Falcons organization, but anyone who has been around 4400 Falcon Parkway in the past few months has witnessed the resolve and resiliency emanating from all corners of the franchise.

The Falcons are continuing to move forward, and the commitment to the three-point-plan outlined by Arthur Blank in 2002 when he purchased the Falcons has not wavered:

1. Create a winning team on the field
2. Deliver an exciting game day experience
3. Give back to the community

With that commitment in mind, the Falcons organization - in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Authority - will soon be embarking on phase two of their $30 million renovation project aimed at continuing to upgrade and enhance the 15-year-old domed stadium. The Falcons have assumed the role of project manager, working with the various groups throughout the process.

This latest phase of the public-private partnership, to be completed prior to the start of the 2008 season, will be even more apparent to the tens of thousands of fans who attend Falcons home games than the 2007 modifications, which centered around the premium seating areas. Phase two projects include:

2008 Enhancements

  • Exterior of Georgia Dome will be re-painted in Falcons-themed colors.
  • Entrance gate enhancements – each entranceway will be dramatically revamped, with new signage and structural changes outside, and banks of LCD screens just inside each gate.
  • Concourses will be completely streamlined, with new rotational signage and new aisle directional signage. The concessions will be re-built and contain Falcons-themed imagery. There will be overhead LCD screens displaying real-time statistics and other game information throughout the concourse at almost every aisle. All the restrooms will be completely renovated and modernized.
  • Seating bowl seats will be replaced on all levels, with a dramatic new color scheme in place: lower level – red; mezzanine/club level – black; upper level – red. The large wall panels above the upper level seats just below the Dome roof will be re-painted black.

2009 Enhancements

  • The existing video boards will be replaced with larger, more technologically-advanced video boards.

The Dome and the Falcons have selected the same companies with whom they worked on the 2007 renovations: Darden & Company (owner's representatives) Holder Construction (general contractor) and TVS and Associates (architect). Work on most of the 2008 enhancements will begin at the end of the Falcons' 2007 season and continue through the spring and summer.

The Falcons are continuing to explore additional public-private partnership opportunities beyond the Dome renovations project.
