FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons Tuesday signed veteran long snapper Mike Schneck and waived Boone Stutz.
Schneck, 6-1, 237 pounds, spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons with the Buffalo Bills and was selected to play in the 2005 Pro Bowl after being voted in by AFC coaches. He was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on July 12, 1999.
Bills punter Brian Moorman, who also went to the Pro Bowl in 2005, credits Schneck with some of the team's increasing success over the last two seasons.
“I’d be the first one to tell you that Mike was just as important to us improving over the last two years and me going to the Pro Bowls as anybody else in the coverage unit," Moorman said soon after Schneck's release from the Bills.
Schneck has missed just four games in his NFL career and has appeared in 124 total games in his nine-year career. He had just one bad snap as a three-year letterman at the University of Wisconsin.
Stutz was signed as a free agent by the Falcons on July 31, 2006. He earned a roster spot following training camp last season and handled long snapping duties in 20 career games, all with Atlanta.
