ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Rookies running back Jason Snelling, guard Justin Blalock and linebacker Stephen Nicholas all earned starting nods for the Falcons in the team's 13-10 win over the BIlls. More news and notes...

  • In his first preseason start, Snelling accounted for 38 of Atlanta’s 74 yards on its first offensive possession. Two of Snelling’s runs went for 22 yards and 12 yards. He finished the game with 12 carries for 50 yards (4.2 yards per carry).
  • For the second consecutive week, the Falcons defense shutout their opponent in the first quarter of play. Last week, the Jets were held scoreless until the 14:48 mark of the second quarter.
  • In his first kickoff return of the game, wide receiver/kick returner Adam Jennings posted a 48-yard return, which led to a Falcons field goal, their first points of the game.
  • Kicker Billy Cundiff remained near perfect in the preseason connecting on 2-of-3 field goals against Buffalo. He split the uprights from 32 yards on his first attempt, tying the game at 3-3 and followed with a 46-yard kick two minutes before halftime. Cundiff and the Falcons lined up one more time as time expired in the first half, however the kick was wide left on a 54-yard attempt. Cundiff is now 5-of-6 for field goals in two preseason games.
  • Rookie safety Daren Stone continued to make an impression on the Falcons defense and special teams when he recorded his first sack of the preseason in the second quarter. Stone dropped Bills QB J.P. Losman for a 10-yard loss, leading to a Buffalo punt. Last week against the Jets, Stone tied the team lead with four tackles, recorded one pass defensed and tallied one special teams tackle.
  • Rookie wide receiver Laurent Robinson led the Falcons in receiving for the second consecutive preseason game. Robinson tallied four receptions for 54 yards, including a long catch of 32 yards.
  • Quarterbacks D.J. Shockley and Chris Redman led the Falcons on a 14-play, 76-yard drive resulting in a one-yard touchdown reception to tight end George Cooper. The touchdown gave the Falcons a 13-10 lead and their first victory of the preseason.
  • BUMPS AND BRUISES: Snelling was shaken up with 12:35 when he was hit hard by Bills' safety Coy Wire after catching a Joey Harrington shovel pass. He looked to have the wind knocked out of him and spent a couple of minutes on the turf. After being attended to by trainers, he left the field under his own power. He returned on the next Falcons' offensive series, despite being diagnosed with bruised ribs.
  • BUMPS AND BRUISES: wide receiverJamin Elliot was carted off the field early in the fourth quarter with an apparent knee injury. He did not return to the game.
  • BUMPS AND BRUISES: Shockley suffered a knee injury at the end of a long run late in the fourth quarter. Shockley lay on the field in obvious pain before leaving the field on a cart. He was replaced in the game by Chris Redman, who led the Falcons to the game-winning touchdown with just 2:44 remaining in the game.
