Fourth Round Pick (No. 129): DE Chauncey Davis

BIOGRAPHY One of the most coveted junior college players in the country in 2002, Davis began his collegiate career as an outside linebacker before shifting to defensive end as a senior. Davis originally signed with Florida State out of high school, but did not qualify academically. He spent the 2001-02 seasons at Jones Junior College, playing linebacker as a freshman before shifting to defensive end the following year. He totaled 65 tackles with 12 stops for losses as a freshman, followed by 70 tackles and eight sacks during his sophomore campaign.

Davis was an all-state linebacker and running back at Auburndale (Fla.) High School, rushing for over 1,000 yards as a senior. The first-team All-American (Rivals.com) was a member of the Florida Times Union Super 75 and Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Super Southern 100. He played in the national all-star game in Dallas and competed in the prestigious Cali-Florida Bowl.

Davis was a late transfer to FSU in 2003, arriving during fall drills. He backed up Kevin Emanuel at left end, recording 18 tackles (14 solo) with two sacks, eight stops for losses, nine pressures and four pass deflections that year. In 2004, he earned the starting left end spot, responding with a team-high 21 pressures, as he also made 22 tackles (12 solo) with five sacks and 10 stops behind the line of scrimmage during the regular season.

In 24 games with the Seminoles, Davis produced 40 tackles (26 solo), seven sacks for minus-49 yards, 18 stops for losses of 82 yards, 30 quarterback pressures, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, five pass deflections and a blocked kick.
