Youth Foundation Grants
2008 Grant Information
The Atlanta Falcons Youth Foundation is pleased to announce the following 2008 grants:
- After-School All-Stars -- $22,500 to purchase a HOPSports Training System including Suunto heart-rate monitors for use at Parks Middle School.
- Atlanta Public Schools -- $4,790 for Falcons Fit program at Southside and Mays high schools.
- Atlanta Track Club -- $35,000 to expand the Kilometer Kids Youth Running Program, serving Falcons Fitness Zone kids at Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA sites.
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County -- $3,500 for Suunto Heart Monitors for the HOPSports Training System.
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta -- $400,000 to sustain the Falcons Fitness Zone initiative at six sites.
- Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation -- $17,500 to lead a youth clinic and coach’s clinic for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and Metro Atlanta YMCA partners, teaching baseball, softball and 'Quickball'.
- KIPP Metro Atlanta Collaborative Inc. -- $13,320 to provide boys and girls basketball and soccer at KIPP WAYS Academy and KIPP South Fulton Academy.
- Metro Atlanta YMCA -- $770,000 to sustain and expand the variety of programming in the existing five sites in the Georgia Dome Zone, as well as expanding the program to more in-school and after-school sites.
- Moving in the Spirit -- $15,000 for the Stepping Stones Program to youth at Warren/Holyfield Boys & Girls Club, as well as other sites located with Falcons Fitness Zone neighborhoods.
- Vine City Health & Housing Ministry -- $100,000 to organize and launch the Youth Fitness and Sports Alliance in the Georgia Dome Fitness Zone.
- Visions Unlimited Community Development Systems -- $50,000 for the SuperKidz program supported by Kids 'R' Fit to youth residing in Bowen, Herndon and Hollywood Courts communities, as well as two city parks and recreation centers.
- Women's Sports Foundation -- $152,500 for the GoGirlGo! Challenge and to provide technical assistance to Falcons Fitness Zone grantees for local GoGirlGo! Programming.
- YWCA of Greater Atlanta -- $100,000 to sustain and deepen work at Cook Elementary explore outreach opportunities with other schools.
- Freedom Park Conservancy / Poncey Highland Playground Initiative -- $30,000 to design and build a 2,500 square-foot 'Falcons Fit & Green' playground at the corner of Freedom Parkway and North Avenue.
- Angel Way Foundation -- $2,500 for the 4th Annual Justin Griffith Football Camp in Gainesville, GA.
- Athletic Training Center -- $5,000 to provide new and safe football helmets for the 2008 season.
- Athens Academy -- $500 for football equipment through the Salute to High School Football luncheon.
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Gordon, Murray & Whitfield Counties -- $2,000 for equipment and program scholarships for a new flag football program.
- Coweta County Cobras Youth Football Association -- $3,700 to provide scholarships for the football and cheerleading programs.
- Eastman/Dodge County Recreation Department -- $5,000 for equipment and supplies to expand the youth football and cheerleading activities.
- Etowah High School -- $500 for football equipment through Salute to High School Football.
- Glenwood Hills Cheerleading Program -- $2,500 for cheerleading equipment and supplies.
- Haralson County High School -- $500 for football equipment through Salute to High School Football.
- Hiram High School -- $500 for football equipment through Salute to High School Football.
- Holland Park Youth Association -- $2,500 to provide scholarships to participate in the football program, which includes equipment and activity fee.
- Meadowcreek Youth Football Association -- $3,000 to provide equipment and uniforms for the football and cheerleading programs.
- P.A.S.S. -- $3,000 for the youth football program serving kids in DeKalb County.
- PlaySmart -- $3,000 to provide transportation for participants from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta to a flag football camp at Pace Academy in Atlanta, GA.
- Spencer High School -- $500 for football equipment through Salute to High School Football.
- 100 Black Men of Atlanta -- $5,000 for Project Success' Health and Wellness Initiative that includes a health fair in partnership with the NFL/Y.E.T. Boys & Girls Club.
- Atlanta Police Athletic League -- $5,000 to provide healthy snacks to those participating in various sports activities.
- Boys & Girls Club of Toccoa-Stephens County -- $5,000 to provide scholarships and equipment for the Triple Play program.
- CHRIS Kids -- $10,000 for the Healthy Habits Program.
- Diabetes Association of Atlanta -- $5,000 for the Healthy Habits Youth Program (H2) at Stone Mountain Middle School.
- Georgia Coalition for Physical Activity & Nutrition -- $12,500 to develop champions in the state legislature for the childhood obesity issue, through GPAN’s legislative fitness challenge.
- The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. -- $5,000 for the Steps for Life program in Middle Georgia.
- Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta -- $5,000 for the Sporting Chance Program, featuring Double Dutch and the nutrition-centered supplement Commit To Be Fit.
- The Tour de Georgia Foundation -- $10,000 to sponsor the 2008 Tour de Georgia including the Lil Kids 500 and the Tour de Kids 5K Run/Walk.
Basketball
- E.O.T.O. Foundation -- $3,500 for transportation, gym rentals and program supplies to expand the basketball training program.
- The Macon Bulls -- $2,000 to provide uniforms and equipment.
- Valdosta Basketball Club -- $2,000 to provide equipment and travel.
- Why Not Sports, Inc. -- $2,000 to provide uniforms for the Southside Lady Royals summer basketball league.
Dance & Movement
- Atlanta Ballet, Inc. -- $6,000 for the Centre Dance Outreach Program.
- Elite Women of Excellence, Inc. -- $2,000 to help participating teens produce a fitness video in order to build fitness into the summer camp and year-round programming.
Fitness Equipment
- Alpharetta Police Athletic/Activities League -- $2,000 to provide exercise equipment as part of the comprehensive summer program.
- ING Run for Something Better -- $10,000 to provide Mizuno running shoes for 400 students.
Golf
- The First Tee of Atlanta -- $5,000 to provide golf and life skills, as well as other activities during the summer camp.
Gymnastics
- KiDsGyM USA, Inc. -- $5,000 to provide scholarships for kids at Whitehead Boys & Girls Club and Bankhead Courts to participate in 'Flippin for Life'.
Health/Education
- Visions Unlimited Community Development Systems -- $4,000.00 for the SuperKidz! summer program.
Multi-Sport
- 4-E Learning & Prevention Center -- $2,500 to provide scholarships for 4-E Action! during the summer program.
- Albany State University -- $5,000 to provide kids with medical exams and opportunities to participate in sports and fitness activities.
- Athens YMCA -- $5,000 to provide scholarships to attend summer camp.
- Atlanta Soccer Foundation -- $5,000 to provide scholarship funds for kids participating in organized sports across the metro Atlanta area.
- Camp Village -- $5,000 for equipment and program fees.
- Coffee County Family Connection -- $4,000 to provide sports and fitness equipment for the summer camp programming, with an emphasis on programs designed for girls.
- Cool Girls -- $5,000 for the Cool Fitness program.
- Morehouse College -- $3,200 to provide scholarships for the NYSP summer camp.
Soccer
- Soccer in the Streets -- $5,000 to implement the Positive-Choice Soccer life skills program at three locations and expand to a fourth location.
- Fugees Family -- $4,000 to provide transportation and registration fees for use of Armistead Field.
- Georgia Soccer Development Foundation -- $10,000 for field space/time to organizations serving low-income kids.
Swimming
- Friends of Grant Park Pool -- $10,000 to match the neighborhood's investment for the installation of a zero-entry kiddie pool and a 'shade-splash spot'.
