Junior Player Development (JPD)
The NFL’s Junior Player Development (JPD) program is an introductory/developmental youth tackle football program for boys and girls ages 12-14 designed to provide step-by-step instruction for every position in a fun and engaging environment.  Additionally, the program integrates on-field skills development with life skills and character development.

Each life skill theme is addressed through the context of football with instructors making connections between life skills as they are applied on the field, in school, at home and in the community.

The 2008 Atlanta Falcons Junior Training Camp

(For “4th & 5th Graders Only”)
The program features educational benefits along with recreational benefits in a safe and fun environment.  The camp will be run by the Atlanta Falcons and sponsored by Gatorade.  Coach Chris Millman will present the program.  There will be a short message on the importance of becoming successful and physical well being, followed by an actual football clinic, which emphasizes friendly competition.  The football part of the curriculum is non-contact and designed for both boys and girls.

Each Atlanta Falcons Junior Training Camp session generally lasts for an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half and has a capacity for 150 children. The speaking segment of the camp usually lasts for 5-10 minutes, leaving an hour for the actual football clinic. The clinic itself consists of 4-5 stations, which will be conducted by Falcons Staff, school volunteers or classroom teachers.  The camp’s curriculum is very simple and emphasizes fun; therefore, volunteers are not required to have football experience. Having the teachers or volunteer parents manage the football stations create a fun atmosphere for both the students and teachers.

Requirements for each school are minimal, but very important. Chris Millman will assign volunteers to their stations prior to the actual clinic. The only items that need to be provided by the schools are trash cans, table(s), a minimum of six (6) helpers and eager students. The Atlanta Falcons and Gatorade look forward to bringing the Junior Training Camp to your school’s 4th and 5th graders or club. It is the intent of the Atlanta Falcons to make this event a fun, safe and educational day for the students, volunteers and instructors.
