FalCan Food Drive

The Atlanta Falcons will partner with Publix Super Markets and the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) to host its annual food drive.  On November 8, 2009 before the Falcons vs. Washington Redskins game, fans are encouraged to donate canned food items or make a monetary donation to benefit the ACFB’s mission to be a resource for underserved communities.

Falcons players will also be on-site at three Publix Super Market locations to offer autographs to those making canned goods or monetary donations to support the FalCan Food Drive.  The dates, times and locations are as follows:

In 2008, the Falcons hosted the first FalCan Food Drive Kick-off event at Perimeter Mall on November 11.  This event was attended by Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders and Falcons players Michael Turner, Jerious Norwood, Ovie Mughelli, Jamaal Anderson and DJ Shockley who signed autographs for fans that brought canned food items.  This event contributed 1,000 pounds of food to the FalCan Food Drive.

On November 16, 2008 with volunteer support from the ACFB, Atlanta Falcons Women’s Association and collection from the FalCan Food Drive kick-off event, nearly 5,000 pounds of food and almost $4,000 was collected.  Following the Food Drive, members of the Falcons defensive line visited the Atlanta Community Food Bank and helped sort canned goods as well as helped serve a special Thanksgiving meal for the less fortunate at the Crossroads Community Ministries.
